FAQs

You need to be in good health and able to hike for 3-4 hours, with lots of stops along the way. Desire is more important than fitness, but we have shorter walks for those that don’t want to hike to the top of Table Mountain. Enquire about our Lion’s Head sunset walks here.

We take a maximum of 10 per group, any more and an extra guide will accompany you. If you want to do something different, you are welcome do a private hike; we will tailor a hike to suit your needs.

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, just poor gear.”

Cape Town is known for its unpredictable weather. It may rain on one side of the mountain, while others sunbathe on the beach on the other. The best solution is to always be prepared for bad weather no matter how hot it is on the ground. Table Mountain has its own weather system. If the weather is exceptionally bad, we might not hike. But that depends on you. Some like it wild.

  • Comfortable shoes.
You don’t need the latest in hiking boots, just some comfortable walking shoes that can handle 3-4 hours of hiking.
  • Water
Bring a minimum of 2 litres of water per person. If more is required, we‘ll let you know.
  • Warm clothes
A warm outer layer and rain proof jacket (Not always required for Lion’s Head). The weather on Table Mountain can change very fast. Be prepared and you will be just fine.
  • Snacks, sunscreen, sun hat
  • Every hiker should bring a comfortable backpack to carry all your essentials.

We loved doing a 1/2 day hike up Table Mountain’s India Venster trail, which was wonderful, challenging and gorgeous.

Our mountain guide, a Cape Town local, knew the mountain like no other. We loved our hiking trip so much that we did it again. We went up a couple of different routes that were both challenging and great fun.

We had a terrific day hike to the top of Table Mountain. From the tuk-tuk ride to a beautiful back route to great knowledge and lots of interesting conversation, we loved it all. Great day out on Table Mountain.
